Keepsake urns are used for various reasons. Many family members or friends will use keepsake urns to share a loved one’s ashes among their circle. Others use a keepsake urn to keep a small portion of ashes after the majority of the ashes have been spread, buried, or placed in a columbarium. Some family members choose to scatter or keep a small amount in a different place from where the primary urn is displayed and in other cases, the keepsake urns are sent to friends or relatives far away from where the memorial ceremony took place.
